Shift Delivery seeking Lead Mechanic Shift Delivery is a worker co-operative that uses cargo tricycles to deliver goods in Vancouver's downtown core. Our awesome team and inspiring vision make for a great place to work. We are seeking an experienced mechanic to lead the maintenance and upgrades program for our growing fleet of electric-assisted cargo tricycles. Position: Lead Mechanic Type: Permanent, part-time position Hours: 20 hours/week (Typical maintenance windows are in the afternoon.) Option for additional hours up to full-time making deliveries as a triker. Wage: Negotiable, based on experience. Opportunities for wage increases and health & dental benefits. Extended Deadline: Noon, Friday, April 4 Start date: April 2014 or negotiable. Responsibilities: 1. Perform regular maintenance according to preventative maintenance schedule, including inspections and tune-ups of electric drive & mechanical systems, and wheel-building. 2. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair unexpected trike issues within agreed-upon time windows (electric & mechanical systems). 3. Keep the Operations Manager up to date on fleet status and upcoming projects. 4. Track tool and parts inventory to support fleet resilience. 5. Identify, prioritize, and execute fleet improvements and upgrades for safety and performance. 6. Review maintenance reports, resolve issues accordingly, and note recurring trends 7. Anticipate fleet needs and major part replacements. 8. Assist with training new trikers on roadside repair techniques. 9. Participate in fleet development conversations. Required Qualifications & Attributes: - 2 years bicycle maintenance experience and/or related training - Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills - Experience with electric drive systems or capacity and willingness to learn - Flexible schedule: ability to perform maintenance within agreed-upon trike availability windows - Respect for the importance of triker safety and for your role in ensuring fleet integrity - Solid organizational skills: punctual, diligent about preventative maintenance, thorough record keeping - Mechanical creativity and flexibility to adapt existing parts to meet our unique needs - Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize the most important tasks - Class 5 BC Driver's License or equivalent Other Desired Qualities: - Strong teamwork skills - The ability to work independently - Commitment to long-term involvement and interest in co-op membership - Project management skills, able to plan for and achieve longer-term goals - Experience with parts inventory management - Experience working within a budget Applications and Hiring Process Applications are reviewed as they are received.
