Mechanic Job in Eugene, Oregon

Primary Purpose: Be an engaged team member of an effective fleet management program including performing preventive maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles in a timely manner to maintain highest level of vehicle safety. Requirements: Resume and cover letter needed to apply. Minimum of 5 years of mechanic experience required, Ford E450 chassis experience preferred. CDL required, or ability to obtain. Self starter who can work independently or on a team. Air conditioning experience preferred, or willingness to get additional training. Employer Note: A pre-employment background/DMV record check, physical ability test and a drug test will be done by employer. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide proactive and effective preventative maintenance services for vehicles and equipment added to the fleet. Perform vehicle inspections and routine maintenance according to maintenance schedules. Review drivers’ pre-trip inspection documents or memos for indications of problems with vehicles or equipment; inspect and repair as necessary. In cases of vehicle breakdown, assist dispatcher in determining need for on-site repair or towing. Make road calls as necessary. Repair accident damage that can be performed on-site. Maintain adequate parts and supplies inventory. Maintain vehicle maintenance and repair records, identify trends. Make recommendations for maintenance and repair policies and procedures. Participate on the Safety Committee, as requested. Participate in short and long-range fleet planning decisions. Miscellaneous duties: Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Manager or Lead Mechanic.
