Qualifications: Previous experience working with Caterpillar equipment and hydraulics an asset; Must have a valid drivers license and clean abstract; Diesel engine, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake system expertise required; 310T Mechanic Red Seal; A valid driver’s license, own transportation to/from work, and a current driver’s abstract is mandatory. Class 1 is considered an asset; Any additional training and safety tickets will be considered an asset; Multi-tasker and ability to work in a team environment; Must have heavy-duty certification; Minimum 5 years’ of heavy-duty mechanic experience with excavators, dozers, loaders, packers, backhoes, etc; Welding experience would be beneficial; Ability to lift and carry heavy objects; Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills; Positive attitude and be physically fit with the ability to lift up to a minimum of 50 lbs.; Must be able to take direction from superiors and work with minimal supervision; Good command of the English language (written & spoken). Responsibilities: Conducting scheduled maintenance on a planned basis; Carrying out unscheduled maintenance in a thorough and timely manner; Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance; Able to operate equipment safely to avoid injuries or property damage; Work in compliance with Summit’s health and safety policy and commit to ensuring it is followed every day with proper documentation; Complete service reports; Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and overhaul vehicles and heavy equipment; Test repairs for proper performance and ensure the work meets manufacturers’ specifications and legislated regulations; Diagnose and identify faults and malfunctions using computerized tools and equipment; Repair and replace defective parts and components on all machinery, equipment, hand tools, and power tools; Respect and support environmental safety; Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and drawings; Perform daily routine maintenance on machinery and equipment including cleaning and lubrication; Complete all duties in accordance with the OHSA and Company health and safety regulations; Work independently and collaboratively with other team members to achieve common objectives.
