Mechanic Job in Bellingham, Washington

My name is Dustin and I am a 17-year-old high school student, I know a little bit about cars but this is beyond me. My 2001 Ford Sport Trac will not start probably an easy fix but I am struggling to get it working. This truck was my dads but he left it to me and it has not been started since may. When I went out to start it a few weeks ago it didn't even start or turn over so I charged the battery and now it starts but doesn't turn over. I tried to jump start it and it didn't turn over either. The gas is at around 3/4 full and I thought there was no oil in the truck because the gage wasn't working but I checked and there is oil in it whether it is good oil that is a different story. I have the synthetic oil that it takes but I do not have the oil filter if that needs to be changed. I would like to know what is wrong with the truck and get it going hopefully by January.
