Mechanic Job in Livonia, Michigan

This is a technical position providing supervision and management for the day to day operation and maintenance of the fleet yard. The position manages and provides oversight of mechanic and yard staff, and ensures all vehicles and equipment is in a state of operational readiness. Essential Functions: 1. Supervise mechanic and yard staff. Provide training, performance reviews and approval of work schedules. 2. Execute repairs as needed and perform quality control ad inspection on vehicles repaired by staff. 3. Provided technical guidance to mechanic staff. 4. Schedule vehicles for repairs and service. 5. Make operational recommendations to the Director of Exterior service as it pertains to fleet and yard operation. Job Requirements/Qualifications: 1. High School Graduate, 2 years of specialized training. 2. Experience as a shop supervisor of a medium sized fleet 3. Possess valid State of Michigan Mechanics license with appropriate endorsements. 4. Expert knowledge of diesel, gas, as well as engine repair. 5. Must be proficient in welding all types of metal. 6. Must have current Michigan's driver's license and maintain satisfactory driving record. CDL certification with air brake endorsement preferred, chauffeurs license minimum requirement.
