Mechanic Job in Defuniak Springs, Florida

I-10 Truck Center in Mossy Head Florida is currently looking for an experienced Mechanic. Accountabilities: • Adhere to all safety guidelines. • Communicate operating information and concerns to personnel on other shifts and in other departments • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all vehicles in accordance to Company standards and DOT guidelines • Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction to support a good working relationship with all departments • Maintain shop cleanliness and safety standards according to Company and OSHA regulations • Must be able to obtain a Class A, CDL within 90 days. • Enhanced knowledge of operation, diagnosis, and repair of class 8 diesel powered trucks, including engines, emissions, transmissions, differentials, fuel systems, cooling systems, air brake systems, steering systems, and suspension systems • Proficient in welding & cutting torch operation • Advanced electrical/mechanical diagnostics & repair experience • Understanding of tire inflation systems, mounting & dismounting tires • Ability to schedule and prioritize daily tasks • Professional/appropriate interaction with internal & external customers • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment • Must adhere to company uniform and appearance standards Required Skills: • Strong team communication and problem solving skills • Strong training and team facilitation skills • Extensive knowledge and understanding of truck maintenance • Must be able to perform DOT inspections and have knowledge of • FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY REGULATIONS • Experience on heavy equipment • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite and other internal systems) • Brake and D.O.T certification preferred • ASE certifications preferred • Ability to perform occasional lifting of 50 lbs; Standing/walking/stooping/kneeling/ 8 hours a day • Ability to work in indoor/outdoor environments• Solid communication skills (verbal and written) • Able to work a flexible schedule and be able to vary the start and finish times • possibly including weekends and holidays.
